SUBMISSION GUIDELINES FOR THE BITTER OLEANDER PRESS
POETRY IN TRANSLATION SERIES

Our next open reading period will be available between 10/01/2023 and 03/31/2024 at which time a representative sampling of poems (8) from a single author's manuscript translated into English from any language may be submitted

There is no fee for this submission process

Poets who may never have been or who have hardly been translated into English and who, as a result, may have been completely overlooked are of great interest to us

Take into consideration that we wish to publish only individual volumes of poetry instead of a 'selected' or 'collected' works by a particular poet

Poets whose volumes of verses have been overly translated are of no interest

When submitting, provide both the original and your translation via our SUBMITTABLE portal below

Provide us at that time with a brief bio for both yourself and the poet you've translated

Include a statement granting us permission to publish both the original work and its translation in book form along with proof that you are in a position to provide such a statement, since if selected for publication by us, we would naturally require it

If our interest reaches beyond your sampling of poems submitted, we will then request that you forward the entire manuscript to us for the next stage of consideration
